Never seen or heard of him before unfortunately, tremendous talent, a real shame he wasn't better known before he died. good post

He was pretty well known in the US. Been around since the '60s.

He was from the Austin Texas area, also known as the home of Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Erik Johnson and many others.

His brother Edgar is a fine musician in his own right. Plays several instruments and sings. Both had to grow up with the stigma of being albino.

Johnny was one great blues guitarist. He had albums of straight blues music, as well as ones that really rocked. Drugs abuse was probably the main reason he didn't experience greater notoriety. Been a fan of his for a very long time.

Best wishes,

Great fill Bill. Yeah, Johnny was the very first rock concert I attended back in 1970 at Toronto's Massey Hall.

Excellent seats... three or four rows back center stage, on my feet the whole time. I remember yelling at the top of my lungs.. "rock & roll, rock & roll" the whole night through, and Johnny must of heard me loud and clear cause he would scream back in that high-pitched Southern accent... "you wanna rock and roll ?... well let's rock and roll !" Good times, never forget.

And that started me on my quest to attend a shitload of rock concerts that was within my geographical boundaries for years to come.

Good find Vanaja m8. That saxaphone playing is fantastic and really bluesy.
